What to do
On the scanner, open Chrome.
Tap the address bar so the cursor is in it. A scan is typed
into whatever has focus, so this step is the one that matters.
Scan a barcode below. The address types itself in and the
download begins.
Android will ask whether to allow installing from the browser.
That prompt is normal for an app supplied directly rather than
through a store.
2D scanner?
Use this instead — it can be read straight off a
monitor, no printing needed.
Code 128 — for a 1D laser
Three sizes of the same address. Start
with the middle one; go larger if the scanner is old or will not read.
Medium — try this one first
Large — for an older laser, or reading from further back
Small — fits a label on the device case or the charging cradle
If it will not read: print at 100%, not "fit to page" — scaling a
barcode down is the usual reason. Keep the white margin either side of the bars
clear, don't scan through a plastic sleeve at an angle, and try the large one.
